CELTIC Charity Fund, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club, is delighted to announce that Yorkhill Children´s Foundation has been selected as the season book charity partner for season 2012/13.

This season, when renewing season books, supporters have the opportunity if they wish to make a one-off £1 donation to the work of Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, through Celtic Charity Fund.

As this year´s partner charity, the Foundation has already benefited from the generosity of thousands of supporters through the renewal process. This is an opt-out procedure so all supporters need to do if not able to assist is simply tick the appropriate box when renewing or indeed when taking out a new season book.

Yorkhill Hospital has touched millions of lives since it first opened its doors in 1882. It exists to help sick children get better, yet it does so much more. As the largest children´s hospital in Scotland, Yorkhill has a worldwide reputation for excellence, treating over 150,000 children from across Scotland every year.

It is the sole Scottish provider of a number of highly-specialised services including cardiac surgery, kidney and bone marrow transplants, paediatric intensive care and endoprosthetic bone replacement. It is also one of the only four UK children´s hospitals with an ECMO machine offering life support for children.

Season ticket donations will go towards the work of the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation. Established in 2001, it funds many vital projects that are invaluable to the treatment, care, physical and mental wellbeing of children and their families from throughout Scotland and beyond who are treated at Yorkhill Hospital and related facilities.

Celtic has had a long and meaningful relationship with the children´s hospital, donating hundreds of thousands of pounds to their magnificent work over many years.

Shona Cardle, Chief Executive of the Yorkhill Children´s Foundation said: “Yorkhill Children’s Foundation is absolutely delighted to strengthen our partnership with Celtic Charity Fund through the wonderful generosity of Celtic season ticket holders.

“It will have such a massive impact on sick children being treated at Yorkhill Hospital today and also in the future. Celtic Charity Fund already supports us on a regular basis and the children are always so excited when the players come to visit at Christmas time.

“We feel very privileged to be associated with this wonderful new season ticket initiative. This is a great gesture and we thank each and every supporter who is able to help.”

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell added: ”The generosity and charitable spirit of our supporters is legendary and we sincerely thank you once again, not only for returning in such numbers to Celtic Park, but also for making this important charitable commitment to such a great cause through your season book.

“Celtic´s association with Yorkhill is well known and through this initiative, the charity will be able to continue and enhance this excellent work in looking after children who need care and support.”
